I'm looking at a Wind Turbine and a Solar Panel that I plan to buy in a year. I was wondering how much could both of these run. Could it run a entire house. I'm really just looking for something that can run a big refrigerator a big computer set up and a few appliances and some lights.
here are the two products i'm looking at
Solar Panel

work out the economics and period of payback before u form these big ticket spends. present oil prices are dropping, this makes investment in these big tech gadget economically less viable. if oil continues to drop, power company might decrease per element power price. this also might mean less money paid to buy power from you.
Bill has it pretty much totally correct. But almost all power companies these days will buy power from you if it's properly conditioned (which method power converters, etc. as he mentioned). The exception(s) are the very small utilities which don't have the equipment to track how much power you've 'sold' to them.
And the expensive part of the loop power isn't the turbine itself.... It's usually the tower it has to be mounted on.

Average power consumption for a US house is 1.2kW. But i.e. average, and it's higher during the day, higher surrounded by the summer, and higher for a larger house. If you have electric heat, it's even complex.
Look at your electric bills to find out your power consumption. Check over a year period.
2.8kW will, as I said, power most homes totally, as long as the sun is shining and the wind is blowing. The sun has to be shining directly on the entire panel, the rays straight up to the panel, for full (or close to it) output. Even a little shade can reduce output a lot.
Are you sure you hold enough direct sun hours per day, and enough average coil to make these worthwhile?
you will need permission of your zoning board to install the twine turbine, and possibly the solar array. If you want to sell power back to the power company, you need their blessing, (and many companies will not do this) and their equipment (or approval) for the connection to the grid.
If you don't do the power company hookup, you will need lots of battery, a charge controller, and an inverter, all expensive.
good luck, contact me if you need more comfort.

1.8kW = 1800W. So that funds that if you have full wind and full sunlight, at any given time, then you will know how to power 30 60W lightbulbs. It will power an average microwave, but will NOT power an electric oven or clothes dryer or something similar though.
