Factories typically use profusely more power per square foot of their buildings than, for example, residential applications. Perhaps they could partner with neighboring landowners for their space.

Honestly, it is because solar panels alone are too unreliable (cloudy days, etc.) and WAY too expensive to use and profess. It would not be economically feasible.
Simple. First, you want a very voluminous battery or some sort of storage facility to (obviously) store the power you may hold gained from the panel.
