Solar powered planes?

seriously would this work?

Answers:    That would be about as adjectives as a plane made out of wax
Er- No.
Yes, but probably not go as promptly as jet propelled planes...
i really hope not. doesnt nouns safe at adjectives!
No way. Even if you could build a solar collector on the airplane big satisfactory to harness enough activeness, what about hours of darkness travel? Even if it was possible, it would be vastly far from practical.
I'm sure such a plane could be built, but probably not a useful one given the current state of photovoltaics. Here's why:

As a rough estimate, the maximum solar power incident upon the surface of the globe is approximately 1kW/m^2 at noon on a sunny day- this vary with altitude, weather, time of year, etc., but 1kW is a locked upper bound.

Current mass-produced solar cells enjoy conversion efficiencies of roughly 5-15%, so best-case electrical power is 50-150 watts per square meter of cells. I've hear of 40% efficient cell, but they are years away from being available surrounded by any useful size.

Take the Cessna Skyhawk as an example. From Cessna's specs, the Skyhawk has a wing nouns of 16.2 square meters and a 160hp engine. Assuming only the wing were covered next to cells, a solar plane of alike size could generate (16.2m^2)*(150W/m^2)=2430W. This is peak power- average power over the course of a light of day would be significantly less. Compare this to the 119360W (1hp=746W) generate by the Cessna's engine (day or night, regardless of weather) and you draw from an idea of the limitations that a solar plane would own.
You are called 'loony' for a sense then.
individual if i allow it
Loony - how appropiate.

How about use your brain and regard about it - yeah.
No, can't get hold of anywhere near plenty energy from the available surface nouns and sunlight to power an aircraft.
