10 pts best answer! - how does solar energy/solar power work?

active and cowed
cost effectiveness and return on cost
any organization rebates?
cost per kilowatt hour/megawatt hour
explanation of what it is and how it works
advantages and disadvantages
what can you power beside it
individual panels or big panel

Answers:    1. cost well it depends on how big the solor pannels are.
2. no.
3. it really depends on what the sizes are and what things are
included.
4. when a solor pannel is outside the sun shines on it. The
pannel later soaks up the heat dynamism and converts in into
what ever animation that you wish. Basically it take the sun
energy (or warmness energy) and changes its chemical ballance
to another form of get-up-and-go like electricity. It's a cheap opening
to use electrical things without a bill (LOL) !!
5. an dominance is that it's a good course to conserve energy
and it's environment friendly. Some disadvantages are
that if there's no sun that sunshine then depending on how much
gusto your solor pannel can hold you might not have
satisfactory energy that daytime.
7. you can power almost anything using it.
8. i prefur big pannels but if you're not much of a big spender
than i would go beside individual pannels.
Solar panels transform the sun’s liveliness into electrical energy that can power homes and businesses
Photovoltaic (PV) cell convert light perkiness into electrical energy, as French physicist Edmond Becquerel discovered as impulsive as 1839.
Most commercial PV cells are made of silicon which is a semiconductor. Semiconductors are competent to absorb some of the wispy that hits that material and do something adjectives with it.
With pure silicon adjectives the electrons (negatively charged particles) in the objects are locked in the crystalline structure and cannot move. The silicon contained by a solar cell is changed slightly so that it will work as a solar cell by the deliberate assimilation of impurities. The bulk of the cell is typically p-type bits and pieces where a small amount of positive donors are added to the silicon cheese biscuit; another layer of n-type silicon is created on the cell near negative donors within order to facilitate the movement of electrons, the deep-seated electricity carriers.
When pallid hits the solar cell, it makes electrons move across the boundary and this creates an electric current which can be drawn bad and used to light homes by placing a metal contact at the top and bottom of the cell.
Solar power is inefficient and unreliable. Only next to government subsidies is solar power a viable substitute for electricity.

Preferable options for power is verbs and safe nuclear vigour and abundant coal.
awesome tariff breaks
the sunnn :)
who cares in the region of that? if they work, good for who bought it.
Let me start rotten by saying we (my house and I) live completely, 100% “off of the grid and are completely self sufficient”

The house is built utilizing natures unprocessed elements, in the shape of an octagon next to 8ft wide arch doors on every wall to shut in every angle of wind (typical 4 sided homes enjoy half the hit and miss as one with 8 sides. A circle human being the most efficient design). Woodburning stoves, solar chimney, solar AC, solar heat, solar water heat (pool and home), solar stove, solar power, wind power, hydrogen powered put money on up generator, hydrogen back up marine heater, hydrogen stove, 2 hydrogen powered trucks, 1 EV (electric vehicle) and satellite internet.

There are no utility lines, no hose down lines, no roads, tv, cell service, etc. on our ranch. EVERYTHING needed is produced here. All electricity comes from 27 solar panel, 2 main turn gens and a back hydrogen generator if needed (typically we can final 9 days with adjectives luxuries of sunless windless weather, hasn't happened yet). Water is caught and storaged from the rainfall. Hot water is made next to solar batch wet heaters with an on-demand hydrogen hot hose down heater as backup. Even our vehicle use alternative energy (2 hydrogen trucks, 1 EV electric vehicle converted). Because of this we hold no bills, no debt and no mortgage.

The fallowing steps were taking directly out of a DIY guide I give to those who would like to run their homes on solar power soundly, reducing their monthly utility bills or even selling power back the the electrical companies. The entire guide is available at www agua-luna com. Its pretty simple but if you hold any problems feel free to contact me directly I can way of walking you threw the process.

Materials you will need
A sheet of copper flashing from the hardware store. This generally costs about $5.00 per square foot. We will stipulation about partially a square foot.
Two alligator clip leads.
A sensitive micro-ammeter that can read currents between 10 and 50 microamperes. Radio Shack sell small LCD multimeters that will do, but I used a small surplus meter with a nozzle.
An electric stove. My kitchen stove is gas, so I bought a small one-burner electric hotplate for about $25. The little 700 watt burners probably won't work -- mine is 1100 watts, so the burner get red hot.
A large clear plastic bottle past its sell-by date of which you can cut the top. I used a 2 liter spring water bottle. A immense mouth glass jar will also work.
Table brackish. We will want a couple tablespoons of salt.
Tap hose down.
Sand paper or a rope brush on an electric drill.
Sheet metal shears for cutting the copper sheet.

The first step is to cut a piece of the copper sheeting that is to say about the size of the burner on the stove. Wash your hand so they don't have any grease or grease on them. Then wash the copper sheet near soap or cleanser to get any grease or grease off of it. Use the sandpaper or telecommunication brush to thoroughly clean the copper sheeting, so that any sulphide or other wishy-washy corrosion is removed.
Next, place the cleaned and dried copper sheet on the burner and turn the burner to its highest setting.
As the copper starts to warmth up, you will see beautiful oxidation pattern begin to form. Oranges, purples, and reds will cover the copper.
As the copper get hotter, the colors are replaced with a black coating of cupric oxide. This is not the oxide we want, but it will flake past its sell-by date later, showing the reds, oranges, pinks, and purples of the cuprous oxide division underneath.
The last bits of color disappear as the burner starts to luminosity red.
When the burner is glowing red-hot, the sheet of copper will be coated next to a black cupric oxide coat. Let it cook for a half an hour, so the black coating will be gelatinous. This is important, since a glutinous coating will flake off other, while a thin coat will stay stuck to the copper.
After the partially hour of cooking, turn off the burner. Leave the hot copper on the burner to cool slowly. If you cool it too speedily, the black oxide will stay stuck to the copper.
As the copper cools, it shrinks. The black cupric oxide also shrinks. But they shrink at different rates, which makes the black cupric oxide flake rotten.
The little black flakes pop off the copper near enough force to build them fly a few inches. This means rather more cleaning effort around the stove, but it is fun to see.
When the copper has cooled to room heat (this takes something like 20 minutes), most of the black oxide will be gone. A light scrub with your hand under running dampen will remove most of the small bits. Resist the temptation to remove adjectives of the black spots by hard scrub or by flexing the soft copper. This might damage the easily offended red cuprous oxide layer we call for to make to solar cell work.
Cut another sheet of copper in the region of the same size as the first one. Bend both pieces kindly, so they will fit into the plastic bottle or jar without touching one another. The cuprous oxide coating that be facing up on the burner is usually the best side to face outwards surrounded by the jar, because it has the smoothest, cleanest surface.
Attach the two alligator clip lead, one to the new copper plate, and one to the cuprous oxide coated plate. Connect the front from the clean copper plate to the positive terminal of the meter. Connect the organize from the cuprous oxide plate to the negative terminal of the meter.
Now mix a couple tablespoons of brackish into some hot tap sea. Stir the saltwater until all the brackish is dissolved. Then carefully pour the saltwater into the jar, self careful not to go and get the clip leads drizzly. The saltwater should not completely cover the plates -- you should leave give or take a few an inch of plate above the water, so you can move the solar cell around minus getting the clip leads showery.
now place contained by the sun with the magnefied on top.
The solar cell is a battery-operated, even in the overcast, and will usually show a few microamps of current.
That’s it it’s that simple. If you’d a more detailed process and some pics (ouldn’t put them here) it’s available along with some other DIY alternative enthusiasm projects at www agua-luna com

Hope this helped, discern free to contact me personally if you hold any questions if you’d resembling assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m predisposed to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at www agua-luna com on the subject. I also extend online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help out others help the environment.
