I see there are solar pumps. Is that what's used to power the filter? I don't own my pond yet and I'm fresh to this so that's why I'm asking.
Solar pump technology is improving once a year. Oase now make solar pumps that I get few, if any, complaints more or less. They do not make pumps that push hundreds of gallons per hour of marine yet, but I ruminate the day is coming. The pump draws the dampen through a filter if you choose to have one.
yes they put up for sale solor powered filters and even solor powered lights for your pond. do a google check out, and do a ebay search and seize an idea of what they look close to.
aquariums and large gardening stores should pass them
If you hold a very life-size pond, I doubt it would be economically worthwhile to put together a solar pump. I suspect the ones on the market are tremendously small.
My room mate builds these garden pools. He said it is indeed the pumps that are operate by solar panels. He is not convinced they are cost impressive yet as the panel are not the best. Just his opinion.
I would read out research them thoroughly before making a decree.
At least this give you a start of where to look and what to look for.
I don't know of any need for a powered filter... usually, as far as I know, the pump pushes the marine thru the filter... so if it's strong enuff, the water moves thru ..... a bio-filter is the usual mode for solar pumps.... here's a site with 'stuff'...

as you look adjectives this over, you may find that the cost of the equipment makes have electrical hookups relevant.... and a whole lot simpler.....
