I rather close to the "Pan Spermia Theory".
That a form of life have been travelling around the universe for a severely long time. When conditions are favourable this form will evolve into appropiate forms for the available conditions.
There are two discoveries that contained by my mind lean towards this idea.
Anarobic microbes that were discovered reflective in the earth's crust. they don't requirement oxygen sun etc just minerals. They could be anywhere on any inhospitable planet (well, at hand would be limits). Aparently similiar bacteria found contained by a meteorite that had originate on Mars.
The inference I am making here is that all vivacity may have evolved from these germs, that they arrived on earth as it be forming and as conditions suited they evolved into us.
On Mars this may not have occured and conceivably they are still there as they are here but near no terrestial style descendants.
i draw your attention to the fact that recent experiments and plans to experiment involve cavernous penetrations of Mars and that comet etc. I suspect one of the agendas is to see if something like the anarobic microbes is present.
If the panspermia theory is true consequently any other life would be related to us.
Well scientists give attention to that Mars used to harbour small microscopic organisms but I guess that the best answer is contained by the moons of Saturn. They have found sea traces on that planet. Why don't you visit astrowhiz on Yahoo Groups..you could start a discussion on astronomy and ufology??
